Homework and Reading

At St. Anne’s we believe homework is very important for the children to practice the skills they have learned at school.

The amount of homework is up to the discretion of the teacher, but once given, is expected to be completed on time.  Parents can speak to the teacher if extra time is needed.

Home reading books are given out to every child in the school. We follow the Oxford Reading Tree scheme throughout the school. Click on the characters from the books for a link to the BBC website to play related games.

Reading Records are given out with the books and are expected to be signed every night by a parent or guardian who reads with the child.

As a reward for reading we have 2 reading trophies in school. One for Foundation Stage and KS1 and one for KS2.  Every Friday at our assembly we look forward to hearing who has achieved the highest percentage of Reading Records signed.
