Year 4 RE Curriculum

This overview shows the focus of the Religious Education Curriculum for the year ahead.

This term we will be studying the three themes of Domestic Church-Family- People, Building bridges-Reconciliation and Advent and Christmas (Loving). The children will also spend a week studying Judaism.

This term we will be studying the three themes of Local Church (community), Eucharist, (Giving d receiving), Lent/Easter (Self disipline).

 

This term we will be studying the three themes of Pentecost (New life), Baptism/confirmation(called),

Universal Church (God’s people).  The children will also spend a week studying Islam

Domestic Church

PEOPLE - The family of God in Scripture

Pupils will know and understand ‘our family trees.’

COMMUNITY - Life in the local Christian community and ministries in the parish

Pentecost

NEW LIFE - To hear and live the Easter message

Pupils will know and understand the wonder and power of the Holy Spirit.

Pupils will know and understand the new life of the Easter message is spread through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Judaism

HOLY BOOKS - Torah

Pupils will know about Bar and Bat Mitzvah.

Pupils will appreciate the importance of the Torah for Jewish people.

Eucharist

GIVING & RECEIVING - Living in communion

Pupils will know and understand about giving and receiving every day.

Pupils will know and understand that the Eucharist challenges and enables living and growing in communion.

Reconciliation / Anointing of the sick

BUILDING BRIDGES - Admitting wrong, being reconciled with God and each other

GIFT- God’s gift of love and friendship in Jesus

Pupils will know and understand the gift of love and friendship.

Pupils will know and understand about Advent and Christmas: the Church’s seasons of preparing to receive God’s gift of love and friendship in Jesus.

Universal Church

GOD’S PEOPLE - Different saints show people what God is like

Pupils will know and understand that ordinary people can do extraordinary things.
