Information on PDF files; what they are, how to open them and how to create them.
The Portable Document Format (PDF) is a popular format to publish formatted text and documents. There are several different versions of it. It's used on websites because it is can be viewed like the original document. It also can be used across many different types of computers and browsers. It is commonly used for government publications, leaflets and forms.
Many of the "CLICK HERE" links in our website are in PDF format. Your computer may already have the software installed, in which case it will display the PDF file when you click on the link. If, when you click on the link, it doesn't open, you will need to install Acrobat Reader.
To open a PDF file you need to have a PDF reader. You can download a program called Acrobat Reader and install it onto your computer. The program is available free of charge from the Adobe Acrobat site and is simple to download.

Web_manager TIP! When viewing a pdf document, it is often displayed very large so that you can only see part of the page. A useful tip, to see a whole page at a time, is to press the Control key (Ctrl on the bottom left of the keyboard) then click the minus sign key ( - at top right of the keyboard); click the minus key a few times to reduce the size of the page on screen. Holding the Ctrl key and clicking the plus key + will increase the size again, if necessary. This works for other screen displays too including internet pages.
